ONGGI
[pronounced “ŌHNG-ghee”]
Onggi (옹기) is a pure Korean word used to describe pottery bowls used to store soy sauce, soybean paste, and gochujang (Korean red pepper paste). The size and shape of the pottery vary, and it is made differently depending on the characteristics of each region or climate.
Although it looks similar to porcelain, which is mainly used for decoration and ornamentation, Onggi is useful in real life and has been part of people’s life for a long time. As the name entails, we will ensure to provide you with a pleasant experience here in a friendly atmosphere.
